Make a Difference!

MSMs, because of enabling factors such as environment, peers, stigma and discrimination of society, have practices and certain behaviours that put them at risk for HIV and STI. As of year 2007, among the three high risk groups for HIV (IDUs, FSW, and MSM), Men who have sex with Men (MSM) are of the highest percent who are infected with HIV. Sadly, because of lack of data only few appropriate interventions are built for the MSM community.

Now we ask,

Contribute greatly.

Participate in the study.

  3. i'm not much into acronyms or abreviations. most of us know what HIV stands for - Human immunodeficiency virus. i am assuming that STI means "sexually transmitted disease or infection". while IDU - Intravenous Drug User. you enlightened me on what MSM stood for, but what is FSW?
is it "female having sex with women"?

i'd love to participate in your survey - yet apprehensive as to what sort of abreviations or acronyms i might encounter along the way. i can't even understand text messages. i helps if i know what i'm reading, so i can give a truthful answer.

your guys are doing a great effort with your study/research. sure hope you get a lot of participation. it's refreshing to talk about common and relevant issues for a change.

    kudos!

  4. To all the participatns, thank you so much for your support. You are really contributing a lot by participating in this study.

MSM - "Men who have sex with men"
    IDU - "Intravenous Drug User"
    FSW - "Female Sex Worker"

    Thank you so much!

  5. just ask a question.. if you have a STD, it means that you have an HIV? answer pls.. thanks..

    ReplyDelete
  6. Having STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) or STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) DOES NOT mean na meron kang HIV, but you are MORE AT RISK for having HIV.

Kung baga, kapag may STD and STI ka, masmataas ang chance na mainfect ka ng HIV.

If you have questions you can e-mail us at

  10. Do you know of a private clinic where we can have STI/HIV tests? Can you provide their contact numbers and fees?

In your research, I'd like to suggest that you add a few stories related directly by people with HIV and STI; what trauma they went through when they learned they have it; and what they could have done differently to spare them of this disease.

I'd like to help, kahit proofreading lang.

    Goodluck.

  14. To all who participated (will participate),

    Maraming maraming salamat po!

Our group is really grateful for your cooperation, suggestions and willingness to help us.

In regards with the directory of health facilities that offers STI and HIV testing, it is a work in progress. We are still making/compiling the directory. But HOPEFULLY, we will be able to finish it by the end of this week. But need not to worry, because we will surely send the directory to those who are/will be be asking for a copy.

    Our group is really grateful.

    Maraming maraming salamat po!

  16. Hi, could you point me to the 2007 study that identified MSMs as the group with the highest HIV infection rates? Last I checked, that was heterosexual IDUs. I was hoping to get my hands on the newest data. Thanks.

  17. koko.. what will be the assurance na pwede gumaling and how can a health center maintain or provide the confidentialty of the patient or the victim itself,,..

  18. binabati ko kayo at naisipan nyo na ito ang maging konsepto ninyo,,,

  19. With regards to STI like gonorrhea, syphillis and the like. may mga available na treatment diyan, all you have to do is of course follow your doctor's prescriptions, i.e. complete and on time intake of medicine. But with HIV and AIDS, ibang usapan yan, so far wala pang exact cure for AIDS but of course may mga retroviral drugs tayo.

A health center or any health fascility SHOULD keep and respect the confidentiality of the patient/victim. Merong mga bioethics or ethics na pinafollow regarding that matter. In an event na ma-sira ang confidentiality ng patient, pwedeng magreklamo ang patient or ang victim. It is a right that everyone should be aware of.

Para po sa nanghihingi ng copy ng data, you can give me your e-mail para masend ko sayo. :)

Maraming salamat sa mga nagparticipate! We really appreciate all the help. :)

  20. I am delighted that you have this sort of survey and I am sure a lot of MSM responded to your duty call.

It still amazes me how many people stay anonymous. Well, each has their preferences.

Hi I am The Green Man. Thank you for the work you're doing and I hope you can help us make a difference :-D

  26. well.. sex is just one of the needs of human for me but not to the point that we are going to abuse ourself and making it a habit to hae sex with different person. always make sure that you are protected or else you will be sorry. if you had hiv don't hesitate to tell it to anyone.. bec. it will helps you to accept that it happens sometimes and admit to yourself that it is your fault. before you love someone you must love yourself first.. thats all i can say
